About

As Muddy Waters’ right-hand man, Jimmy Rogers was at the heart of the heart of Chicago blues. Not only do most of Muddy’s other ’50s-era bandmates power these Rogers solo sides, but Muddy himself adds some righteously raw licks. Rogers’ and Waters’ guitar riffs clang like thunder and lightning on the deliciously doomy “Out on the Road,” and Walter Horton’s howling harmonica on Rogers’ signature tune, “Walking by Myself,” follows the singer like a great, feral beast. Chicago blues seldom gets more hard-hitting.
