In all genres of music, certain acts develop seriously dedicated cultlike followings; these fans hang on their idols' every word, go to hundreds of concerts, and will gladly spend hours discussing the finer details of each and every song. The hippies have The Grateful Dead, beach bums have Jimmy Buffett, and juggalos have The Insane Clown Posse. For many young indie-rap fanatics, it's all about Atmosphere. Hailing from Minneapolis, Atmosphere have been doing their thing forever: touring relentlessly, dropping critically acclaimed albums, collaborating with a likeminded crew (Brother Ali, Eydea & Abilities, Anticon, Sage Francis, et al), and developing one of hip-hop's most passionate fanbases. <i>Seven's Travels</i> was first released in 2003; this 10-year reissue includes the original cover art and a handful of unreleased bonus tracks. Slug serves up his trademark ultra-personal, extra-annunciated wordplay, rhyming about girls, the road, and life's ups and downs over Ant's always on-target, sample-friendly production.
