About
After cleverly spewing out more retro pop-culture references than a workday of Facebook memes, Monahan musters his Reagan-era teen angst for a propulsive chorus that properly sets the tone for California 37. Train strategically follows up this catchy nugget with an even more infectious number, “Drive By.” The band teleports from Jamaica to Nashville in “Bruises,” with country singer Ashley Monroe piping in to duet over rootsy instruments.
