About
Originally from Chicago but based in Los Angeles, Jeremiah Jae is a producer/emcee who's been steadily building his rep via an extensive series of beat tapes, EPs, and mixtapes, winning props on the Internet and a big co-sign from Flying Lotus. Taking the opposite approach from most new artists, he rocks an extremely low-key, understated rhyme style, backed by overtly experimental production that embraces psychedelia, off-kilter beats, and a compelling mix of both analog and digital styles, with definite nods to both MF DOOM and Madlib/Quasimoto, among others. Though he's unlikely to keep the party popping at your local club (unless it's on Saturn), there's no denying that the kid's onto something here. If you prefer your hip-hop without traditional verse-chorus-verse structures, are allergic to breakbeats, and feel that songs with hooks are selling out, Raw Money Raps is right up your alley. Check out "Leaders," "Cat Fight," the bossa nova jam "The Great Escape," and "Hercules vs. the Commune."
