About
This career-spanning collection of the rap group’s hits includes the bookends of their jazzy, drum-heavy breakthrough single (“I Left My Wallet In El Segundo”) and Q-Tip’s first solo endeavor, the funky “Vivrant Thing”—but it doesn’t travel neatly between the two. Because the tracklist isn’t sequenced chronologically, ATCQ’s evolution is traced in a series of leaps and retreats; the mellow, cleanly layered “Stressed Out,” from their fourth album, is followed by horn-driven, lo-fi “Luck of Lucien,” from their debut. It creates a jagged, brilliant timeline.
