About
Compared to the orchestral expanse of their previous albums, Efterklang’s starker <i>Piramida</i> retreats into shadow. Recorded in an abandoned Arctic mining settlement, the album gets its striking sense of place from atmospheric field recordings and natural reverb. In “Told to Be Fine,” rustling percussion and twinkling synths frame Casper Clausen’s gorgeously downcast voice; “The Ghost” wraps minimalist pulses in glowing strings and horns. But the footfalls of the sparkling “Dreams Today” lead back toward light, as euphoric choirs build toward a sunrise climax.
