About
For 2012’s Release Me, Barbra Streisand dove into her archives, unearthing songs that span from her '60s Broadway-ingenue days through the ‘10s. The powerhouse “Being Good Isn’t Good Enough” (from the ‘60s musical Hallelujah, Baby!) combines strength with vulnerability, while the stripped-down version of Randy Newman’s downcast “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today,” which features Newman on piano, is gently melancholic. Streisand’s trip through her archives reveals how her voice’s sheer power allowed her to take on almost any style of pop.
