Following several albums that found them exploring an orchestral take on progressive rock, <i>Lost Songs</i> sees ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead taking what they learned about operatic grandeur and funneling it into a spate of raging post-hardcore anthems that barrel forward without sacrificing an ounce of ambition. The title track delivers lacerating riffage as it builds to a majestic onslaught of symphonic-guitar bliss, whereas "Pinhole Camera" burns through several composition shifts and thematic segues while retaining its punk immediacy.
