About
This is the legendary July 5, 1968, Hollywood Bowl concert in its entirety. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, original engineer Bruce Botnick was able to repair the damaged portions of the live tapes and, for the first time, bring out the complete show. The band opens here with a sharp and focused version of the epic "When the Music's Over." (Imagine a modern chart-topping band opening a show with 13 minutes of music and poetry!) An early poetry-only version of "The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)" leads the way into succinct run-throughs of "Hello, I Love You" and "Moonlight Drive" before The Doors do the unexpected improvisatory number "Horse Latitudes" and pieces of the then-unreleased "Celebration of the Lizard" (listed as "A Little Game"), "The Hill Dwellers," and "Wake Up!" An extended version of "The End" brings this unusual concert to its close.
