Packed with feral, incendiary guitar and guest shots from Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Mark Knopfler, this 1991 comeback is one of Guy's own favorites. Guy attaches his gritty, soulful singing to powerhouse riffs on the title track and "Where is the Next One Coming From?," but it's his hyperactive string bending, unpredictable chromatic turns, and snarling tone that demand attention. With a little help from Jeff Beck, he even manages to make the overdone bar band chestnut "Mustang Sally" sound exciting,. Guy saves the sweet side of his art for the closer, a seven minute tribute to his late friend and student Stevie Ray Vaughn called "Rememberin' Stevie" that's laden with shivering, tearful melodies.
