The Texas psych rockers’ third and final studio album, <i>Bull of the Woods</i> concludes the 13th Floor Elevators’ saga in an often thrilling and sometimes surprising fashion. Shifting into a primary creative role for the band, guitarist and songwriter Stacy Sutherland takes them into uncharted territory with “Barnyard Blues” and “Scarlet and Gold,” two originals that combine the Elevators’ trippy fury and ferocity with a more fluid approach closer to that of San Francisco peers like the Grateful Dead.
