It was additionally packaged with the reissue of her second studio album, Born to Die, titled Born to Die: The Paradise Edition. The EP's sound has been described as baroque pop and trip hop. Upon its release, Paradise received generally favorable reviews from music critics. The extended play debuted at No. 10 on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 67,000 copies.
