About
"So Much Water So Close to Home" was recorded from February to March 1989 and was released in August later that year. The track "Everything's Turning to White" and the title of the album is based on a short story by the author Raymond Carver. In 2006 it was adapted into the Australian film Jindabyne, which Paul Kelly co-scored. After the release it peaked at #10 on the ARIA album charts despite none of the singles reaching the ARIA Top 40 singles. .
