About
This collection, released in June 1998, features three 7”s of non-LP Bikini Kill material released on the Kill Rock Stars label in the ‘90s. The Joan Jett–produced versions of “New Radio” and “Rebel Girl” are among the most vicious yet complete-sounding recordings the band ever made. Leader Kathleen Hanna and her Riot Grrrl politics birthed the band and boosted their visibility, but they always rocked. Each of the nine tracks has energy, a melody, and a wall of guitars that make it as essential as predecessors like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Damned, as well as later contemporaries Sleater-Kinney, who extended pieces of Bikini Kill's mission.
