About

Between 1976 and 1980, Blondie released a peerless string of singles that reshaped the pop mainstream with underground attitude. Debbie Harry’s sneering taunts on “Rip Her to Shreds” betray the group's punk past, but the starry-eyed “Dreaming” summoned the dawn of New Wave, while the synth-powered knockout “Heart of Glass” and the rap-infused funk of “Rapture” saw them bravely saunter into the discotheque. And their joyous cover of reggae standard “The Tide Is High” reinforced just how far Blondie had ventured from their CBGB roots.
