The Hunter is Blondie’s 6th studio album. It was released on June 5, 1982 via Chrysalis Records. The singles were “Island of Lost Souls” and “War Child.” The Hunter, according to Blondie’s singer Debbie Harry, has a loose concept of “searching, hunting or pursuing one’s own Mt. Everest.” There are many pop culture references and then modern issues mentioned throughout the album, such as The Beatles being referenced in “English Boys” in response to John Lennon's death and military conflicts in Cambodia and the Middle East being referenced in “War Child.” The album also contains a cover of Smokey Robinson’s .
