This collection tells the history of The Beatles' meteoric rise to fame in North America. In addition to the musical albums—11 of which are presented in both mono and stereo mixes—this set contains The Beatles’ Story, a 1964 spoken word recording with band interviews. Although The Beatles found success in early 1963 when "Please Please Me" topped UK charts, their initial releases in America were on independent labels. By late '63, Capitol Records agreed to release the group's music in the U.S.—“I Want to Hold Your Hand” came out the day after Christmas and The Beatles' first album hit stores on January 20, 1964. The label then made up for lost time, releasing four more albums in both 1964 and 1965, followed by two more in both 1966 and 1967. Many titles, like The Early Beatles and Yesterday and Today, were culled from earlier UK releases, with unique track lists. This collection is accompanied by an iTunes LP, which features original artwork and supplementary information about the history of The Beatles’ U.S. albums.
