Though The Apartments aren't well known in the U.S., their main man Peter Milton Walsh has long been a revered member of the Australian music scene, having joined The Go-Betweens for a brief spell before again setting off on his own. Albums by The Apartments are few, but their brilliance and depth are real. This reissue of The Apartments’ first album includes singles, rarities, and demos that further sketch the beautiful melancholy and heart-wrenching existentialism that informs “Cannot Tell the Days Apart,” “All the Birthdays,” and others, here in demo and finished forms. The original album’s nine tracks are expanded to 20, including the early single “All You Wanted.”
