<i>Rivers in the Wasteland</i> is the fifth studio album by South Carolina’s NEEDTOBREATHE. The collection continues the acoustic trio’s knack for conjuring up airy and appealing alt-folk tunes with spiritually-imbued lyrics. Lead singer Bear Rinehart’s breathy timbre and thoughtful lyrics provide a redemptive aspect to songs like the pared-down “Wasteland” and the stirring “Rise Again”. As always, Rinehart is backed by the accomplished bass playing of Seth Bolt and virtuous lead guitar, banjo and mandolin assists from his brother Bo Reinhart.
