About

James Taylor: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 opens gently with a re-recording of “Something In the Way She Moves” from his self-titled debut album (this take without the psychedelic harpsichord intro). “Carolina In My Mind” also gets the soft rock redo. “Fire and Rain” as well as the title-track follow in their familiar warmth. “Taylor’s semi-soulful take on the 1964 Motown hit “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” is another standout.
