Over the course of two excellent full-lengths (2008’s <i>A Mouthful</i> and 2011’s <i>Both Ways Open Jaws</i>), multi-instrumentalist Dan Levy and frontwoman Olivia Merilahti boasted a uniquely playful brand of folk-infused, playground-ready indie pop. On The Dø's third full-length album, <i>Shake Shook Shaken</i>, the Finnish-French duo deliver a sumptuous collection of synth-based beauty that's at once disarming and danceable. Atop a plush and pristine guitar arrangement, Merilahti gifts “Trustful Hands” with a lovely, lullaby-like vocal turn. Elsewhere, “Lick My Wounds” is a stunner whose synths and soaring chorus recall The Knife at their most resplendent.
