About
Recorded on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, 2014, at Boston's Orpheum Theatre during the Elements of King Crimson tour, Live at the Orpheum features a percussion-heavy, modern-day King Crimson lineup. Robert Fripp leads, but guitarist/singer Jakko Jakszyk picked the tracks that represent the current group, which includes '70s member Mel Collins on saxophone, longtime member Tony Levin on bass and Chapman Stick, and Pat Mastelotto, Bill Rieflin, and Gavin Harrison on drums and percussion. The appearance of tracks from 1971’s Islands and 1974’s Red mixed with newer material provides comfort and challenges.
