About

Returning after a six-year hiatus, the Florida indie troupe Copeland pick up in 2014 where they left off on 2008's You Are My Sunshine. This is a band that's never stopped evolving, with the lo-fi fuzz of early albums giving way to an increasingly melodic sonic palette. Despite the break, Ixora is Copeland's most sonically luxurious work. "Lavender" is propelled by a drum machine and fidgety synths that recall Radiohead, while the somber "World Turn" features a melancholy sax solo. Singer Aaron Marsh remains the focus, promising longtime fans: "I can make you feel young again," as if no time had passed.
