About
A few years before Spinal Tap, ace comedians Neil Innes and Eric Idle conceived The Rutles, an imaginary band that satirized the mythology surrounding The Beatles. This collection, featuring music from the 1978 mockumentary All You Need Is Cash, artfully toes the line between savage send-up and loving tribute. “Cheese and Onions” and “Ouch!” show off the group’s knack for penning tunes that sound like authentic artifacts from the ’60s, yet are utterly ridiculous. This is comedic pastiche of the highest order.
