When the going gets tough, the professionals turn pop. Or at least that’s what the Canadian experimental/electronic pop duo Purity Ring have done on their second album, <i>Another Eternity</i>. Their debut, <i>Shrines</i>, relied on the adventurous forays that Megan James and Corin Roddick pulled off with few expectations upon them; they mostly wrote collaborated on the songs online while in different locales. For <i>Another Eternity</i>, working face to face gave them a palpable give-and-take that ensured tracks like “Begin Again,” “Stranger Than Earth,” and “Bodyache” achieved a human touch beyond electronics without losing the icy textures necessary to create their ethereal vibe.
