George Lewis Jr.’s third album as Twin Shadow is a series of musical fist-pumps, each one bigger and more triumphant than the last. Tracing a line from fun. to Drake to The Killers and back through the finish-line anthems of <i>Pretty in Pink</i> or <i>The Karate Kid</i>, the album is by turns bombastic and seductive. It's part power ballad ("To the Top") and part slow jam ("Alone”)—a heavy machine built out of leather and chrome. The flourishes are modern, but the foundation is pure '80s.
