About
Teaming up with a neighborly backing band of friends and family, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, a.k.a. Will Oldham, offers one of his warmest, most organic-sounding albums with Lie Down in the Light. While his wordplay is as thrillingly inscrutable as ever, the acoustic arrangements are sunnier and more full-bodied than much of his previous output, providing a clean, rootsy backdrop for Oldham to spin his calm anthems of reassurance (“Easy Does It”) and poetic pledges of devotion (“I’ll Be Glad”).
