"Play" is the fifth studio album by American electronic musician Moby, released on 17 May 1999 by Mute Records internationally and on 1 June 1999 by V2 Records in North America. Recording began in mid-1997 following the release of his previous album "Animal Rights" (1996), which marked a stylistic departure from his earlier electronic work. With "Play", Moby aimed to return to an electronica-oriented sound while incorporating elements of downtempo, blues, and roots music.
