About
Halsey plays the seductress on this dark and sultry electro-pop EP. She beckons toward the bedroom from the start, cooing, "Could we pretend that we're in love?" over sluggish booms and rumbling bass. On "Ghost," she shows a rapper's sense for rhythm and swagger, while "Hurricane" has her admitting "I'm a one-night stand" with the slinkiness of Lana Del Rey. "Empty Gold" reveals Lorde-like fierceness over sparkling synths, and closer "Trouble (Stripped)" uses piano to underscore her vocals, which crack ever so gently with vulnerability.
