At just over 30, composer Olafur Arnalds has already had a wildly varied career, ranging from melancholy folk (<i>Island Songs</i>) to electro-acoustic soundscapes (<i>For Now I am Winter</i>) to interpretations of Chopin. His work for the British crime drama <i>Broadchurch</i> draws on all his talents, mixing misty sheets of strings with sub-bass rumbles and lonesome pianos with hazy atmospheres. The result feels both delicate and ominous, melancholy and strangely inviting.
