Instrumental metal-punk trio The Fucking Champs pair Yngwie Malmsteen-like chops with the prankish spirit of Pavement. Here they prove themselves capable of amazing feats of dexterity, such as the ultra-complex solos on "Never Enough Neck (Part 1)," but they’ve never been just about showing off their skills, as "I Am the Album Cover" is swaggering biker rock that lets the listener in on the fun. And these Guitar Center overlords also have a sensitive side, as seen on the soothing keyboard washes of "Children Perceive the Hoax Cluster."
