'Bustin' Out of L Seven' is the second studio album by Rick James (with the Stone City Band ). Released on January 16, 1979 by Motown owned Gordy Records. The album was produced by Rick James and Art Stewart. It contained the US R&B #8 hit - "Bustin' Out (On Funk)" a funk piece where the Stone City Band and Rick James invite all the "squares aka L7's (the boring people)" as well as the Freaks to bust out of the L7 Square(the boring place) because funk is too interesting and isn't allowed in such a place.
