About
Peaches’ sixth album is typically confrontational: Stripping back to her trademark sleazy synths, she confronts the cult of female genital plastic surgery (“Vaginoplasty”), calls out exploitative friends (“Free Drink Ticket”), and flips gender roles (“Dick in the Air”). But as ever with Peaches, it’s not provocative for its own sake: She’s urging us to question social norms so that we might move on from unfounded prejudice and assumption. Best of all is “I Mean Something,” where she lands a blow on behalf of older female artists.
