Following the success of similar compilations released in France and Australia, <i>We Love Disney</i> pairs contemporary artists with Disney classics in smart, clever ways. Take Ne-Yo, for example, who builds on the concept of <i>Aladdin</i>’s Genie as a Cab Calloway-type showman through a big-band take on “Friend Like Me.” Or country singer Kacey Musgraves, whose chin-up delivery perfectly matches the spirit of “A Spoonful of Sugar,” which she plays like an old western swing tune. Also featured are Ariana Grande (<i>Hercules</i>’ “Zero to Hero”) and Gwen Stefani, who drifts dreamily through “The Rainbow Connection.”
