About

As the most successful group on the Beatles’ record label, Apple, Badfinger were often seen as a band with a strong debt to the Fab Four. Yes, Paul McCartney wrote the hit single “Come and Get It,” but the band members had their own talents as well. This debut album is a mix of several different recording sessions. Three songs were from the soundtrack of the film, The Magic Christian, six were from the band’s pre-Badfinger album, Maybe Tomorrow, when they were known as the Iveys, and the rest were brand new songs. The band’s range is impressive. The mild pop of “Dear Angie,” the beautiful folk of “Fisherman” and the aggressive rock of “Midnight Sun” typify the styles of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Tom Evans’ “Maybe Tomorrow” is a seductive and well-orchestrated piece of pop. Evans and Pete Ham’s “Carry On Till Tomorrow” features sterling harmonies and muted verses. “Walk Out In the Rain” delivers on its title, with a somber vibe and gentle gait. This 2010 re-master includes alternate versions, remixes and tracks not available on the original album.
