A Boston-based producer/rapper known for his unique sound, which fuses old-school fundamentals with futuristic beats, Edan is one of those rare cats who truly sounds like nobody else in the game. After making a splash with the early singles "Sing It, Sh*tface," "Drop Some Smooth Lyrics," and "Mic Manipulator," he unleashed <i>Primitive Plus</i> in 2002, blowing minds around the world and establishing himself as one of hip-hop's most interesting new artists. Totally bugged-out yet surprisingly catchy, his densely layered, overdub-happy jams re-imagine traditional rap beats, sampling any and every style imaginable, loading up the effects, then topping it all with nonsensical stories and golden era–influenced bravado. With no guest spots and no outside producers, it's all about Edan here. And it's all good.
