A self-described “psychedelic forest folk” sextet who manage to conjure the feel of goth metal without heavy guitars, Finland’s Hexvessel are beautifully haunting on their third album. “Drugged up on the Universe” rides a reverberating Krautrock rhythm, while “Earth over Us” and “Cosmic Truth” blast droning organ lines into space and “Green Gold” and “Mushroom Spirit Doors” revel in the hallucinatory properties of vegetation and fungi. Vibrato coed harmonies throughout suggest a communal clan in tune with nature, the shifting seasons, death, and rebirth.
