There’s a shadowy spirit that hangs over and permeates the murky yet gorgeous songs on Unloved’s debut. Starting with the title track’s upbeat island sway and singer Jade Vincent’s irresistible coo, producer David Holmes instantly establishes the hazy atmosphere for <i>Guilty of Love</i>’s ambient dream pop. The album’s layers of reverb-heavy percussion and vocals yield hypnotic walls of sound on “Damned” and trippy, kaleidoscopic nightclub atmospheres on “When a Woman Is Around,” resulting in a blissful joyride of sensual, ‘60s-inspired bedroom psych.
