Seemingly inspired by the abbreviated beat tapes of fellow Michigan expat J Dilla, L.A. beat scene producer Samiyam expertly assembles sparse sample snippets into an LP's worth of bubbling grooves. Whether it's the staggered snare snap on “Kimchee,” the stumbling toms of “Taco Chase,” or the title track's woozy bass, each composition comes deliciously close to falling apart before its brief run time is up.
