Vocalist Natalie Bergman strides through seductive, worldly pop on Wild Belle’s second full-length LP, navigating the heavy basslines and growling baritone sax of brother/bandmate Elliot. <i>Dreamland</i>’s most immediate hooks, like the echoing title track and “It Was You (Baby Come Back to Me),” are mid-tempo burners with a crate-digger’s patchwork of influences (Ghanaian Highlife, retro-future soul, and old-school Jamaican ska, to name a few). And yet, the siblings’ sharply edged, experimental moments—like the punk-infused grind of “Giving Up on You” or clapping beat of “Throw Down Your Guns”—are just as refreshing.
