"A Celebration" was a non-album single released by U2 between the October and War albums in 1982. It was probably better known for its B-side, "Trash, Trampoline and the Party Girl" (usually shortened to "Party Girl"), which become a live staple throughout the years. In past years, when questioned about "A Celebration" by fans, the band made comments implying that they did not like the song. The fact that it was long unavailable from any U2 compilation CDs appears to support this view. "A Celebration" was first released on CD on the 1999 compilation Now That's What I Call Music! 1982 (opens in a new tab), released in the UK only.
In addition to digital releases (beginning with the 2004 release of The Complete U2 (opens in a new tab) on iTunes), "A Celebration" was included on the 2008 release of a deluxe, 2-disc edition of October (opens in a new tab).
