After School Session is the debut studio album by rock and roll artist Chuck Berry, released in May 1957 by Chess Records. The album - as well as subsequent Chess releases - was compiled as a sort of 'best-of' record at the time, since all tracks with the exception of two ("Roly Poly" and "Berry Pickin'") had previously been released on 45 rpm singles. The release can be seen as a reaction to a booming market for long-playing albums among teenagers following the rising popularity of rock 'n' roll.
