About
Alive 1997 is an album by Daft Punk released on November 6, 2001. It contains a 45-minute excerpt of a live performance recorded at Birmingham's Que Club on November 8, 1997. It was selected by Daft Punk themselves for release, as they considered it to be their favorite live performance from their Daftendirektour. It prominently features elements of "Daftendirekt", "Da Funk", "Rollin' & Scratchin'" and "Alive" from their Homework album. The live performance also contains elements of what would later become the track "Short Circuit" featured in the album Discovery. Alive 1997 contains the excerpt in one continuous track on CD. The CD and vinyl packaging included a set of Daft Punk stickers. Another version of Alive 1997 - this time recorded at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles - was livestreamed on Twitch on February 22, 2022, at 2:22 pm. The Mayan Theatre performance was never broadcast again after that day, and all reuploads of the stream are blocked due to copyright. Alongside this, Daft Punk would also release Homework (25th Anniversary Edition) which features remixes of Homework tracks previously unreleased on digital storefronts and streaming services.
