About
Despite the name, this electronic audio sculptor isn't especially thuggish—heady beats and aural flights of sci-fi fancy are his thing. For <i>Arcology</i>, the Denver whiz cultivates a retrofuturistic swagger, mixing classic, machine-forged techno and acid house with twisty Chicago footwork rhythms. On “Ghostless M.S.,” colorful synths wiggle and writhe to complex percussion patterns that spiral around a hard-driving core. Others, like the lush “Low-Life” and eerie “Arcology,” slow down and levitate into otherworldly atmospheres. With electronic music so elemental and, yes, entrancing, thugs and angels can dance as one.
