The daughter of bossa nova legends Joao Gilberto and vocalist Miucha, Bebel Gilberto established herself on her breakthrough album <i>Tanto Tempo</i>, a tantalizing hybrid of Brazilian rhythms and electronica. A four-year gap between albums followed, punctuated by countless remixes and dance discs, and just as fans were starting to get impatient, Gilberto released this album, which is an undisputed masterpiece. Confident and relaxed, Gilberto asserts herself as a mature musical stylist, gliding atop seamless sound mixes, and a strong set of material. The tentative, effortful moments of her earlier work are nowhere to be found in this flawless, beautiful set. Every song, from the pulsating, lulling "Aganju," to the slinky, mysterious "Cada Beijo," is a rich combination of pure sensuality and sonic depth, standing as one of the finest Brazilian albums of the last twenty years.
