The quiver in Freddy Fender's voice could make even the most hardened rancher cry in his cab. On "Before the Next Teardrop Falls," the Texas country singer works up the strength to forgive an ex-lover; then, in "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights," he regrets all the hours he spent thinking about her in the first place. Though at times he sounds like he’s on the brink of tears, his spirits rise on funk and tejano jams that fill out the rest of this LP.
