Indio's album "Big Harvest" (released 1/1/1989, under A&M Records) , contains 11 tracks from "The Grinding Wheel" to his most popular song, "Hard Sun", ending off with "Life Lies Down". The songs reference that of spirituality and conservation through nature, as noted by Peterson, who worked on his grandfather's tobacco farm as a child. Some notable names on the album include David Rhode, Peter Gabriel's longtime collaborator, Bill Dillon, Larry Klein, New York's own Brenda Russell, Joni Mitchell, and Karen Peris (The Innocence Mission). Violinist L. Subramaniam appears as well. Peterson later stepped out of the spotlight, as he felt the demands from the industry at the time were causing a conflict for his love of creating music, as well as expectations imposed upon him. Some interesting trivia includes: A what was thought to be lost music video for "Hard Sun", can be found on YouTube. Indio's name is derived from Indio, CA. The reason for thi, was that he did not want to use his name on the album. His name is instead listed in the album's writing credit. Big Harvest is not the only work of Peterson', as he released a song to a small group titled "This Way Down", in 2007. .
