Recorded in New York, NY for CBS, 23 and 27 January 1956, the original release on Columbia has 11 tracks, but two more were recorded where Ellington doesn't play and Billy Strayhorn takes his place. These two tracks (If You Were In My Place and Just-A-Sittin' And A-Rockin') have been added on the 2008 CD reissue. Clooney out on Passion Flower.
Rosemary Clooney was pregnant and unable to travel when these sessions were made, so her vocals were recorded separately from the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
