About
Albert King's second LP was such an enormous influence on blues and rock guitar heroes, you'd have to go back at least as far as early Elmore James to find something comparable. Beyond the iconic title track, whose funky, fret-burning feel made classic-rock history when covered by Cream, King brings a greasy soul stomp to Ivory Joe Hunter's "I Almost Lost My Mind," maintains a sultry conversation between his voice and axe on "Personal Manager," and lays down some licks as lacerating as the lyrical theme on "Crosscut Saw."
