"Breaker" is the third studio album by the German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1981. The album was recorded at Delta-Studio in Wilster and was produced by Dirk Steffen. It was the first Accept album to be engineered by Michael Wagener. Bassist Peter Baltes performs lead vocals on "Breaking Up Again" and sings the bridge section on "Midnight Highway". Following the release of "I'm a Rebel", the band decided to minimise external influence over its songwriting and musical direction. According to vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, the group aimed to create an album based on its own artistic preferences rather than commercial expectation. Dirkschneider has described "Breaker" as one of Accept's strongest albums and regarded it as the beginning of a particularly successful period for the band that continued until 1985. The album's title was later used for the name of Dirkschneider's record label, Breaker Record. Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann has similarly stated that the band deliberately abandoned its previous approach and focused on creating music it considered authentic. He described "Midnight Highway" as a comparatively commercial track and noted that it differed stylistically from the rest of the album. Many of the album's songs have an aggressive and confrontational tone, particularly "Son of a Bitch", whose lyrics Dirkschneider described as being directed against the band's record company. The song's lyrics were omitted from the original album sleeve and replaced with the word "Censored". Hoffmann later stated that this decision attracted additional attention rather than avoiding controversy. An alternative version of the song, titled "Born to Be Whipped", was recorded with revised lyrics for release in some market. .
